About the Role
Location: Austin, TX
The Hardware Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of server hardware and related equipment. This role ensures optimal functioning of hardware systems, expand existing pools of engineering services, contributing to new projects and minimizing downtime through prompt response times. Priority support for the seamless operation of technology infrastructure between engineering teams to maintain access for critical systems and hands-on assistance to software developers and hardware engineers. Capable of keeping pace with cutting-edge AI hardware development (servers, desktops, PCIe boards) and is not hindered by constant change due to R&D, prototyping, and hardware/software patches through to commercial release.

What You’ll Do
- Install, configure, and maintain servers and peripheral devices
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware malfunctions using diagnostic tools
- Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to keep current with engineering demands
- Use DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools to view/update assets per location & project
- Provide technical support and end-user training on hardware functionality and best practices
- Collaborate with IT, Sites, Customer teams to resolve unique issues in support of complex network infrastructure
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in IT, computer science, or STEM related fields
- Proficiency in computer architecture, operating systems (Linux, macOS, Windows), and command-line shells
- Experience with hardware diagnostics, firmware updates, and component-level repairs
- Familiarity with tools used for server racks, mainboards, PCIe peripherals, such as lifts, carts, and precision hand tools
- Strong problem-solving, team communication, and online documentation skills
- Enthusiastic about scripting repetitive tasks to improve automated practices
Work environment:
- Typically works in office, engineering lab, or data center location
- May require lifting up to 55 lbs and able to work in confined and high noise spaces
- Must adhere to safety protocols and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, OSHA covering Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage, equipment use, lifting, electrical hazards, ladder use)
