Engineering talent, embedded

Alongside our project work, we place senior engineers directly inside client engineering teams — people who own their work, think in systems, and raise the standard of the teams they join. The role below is one of those engagements: you would be embedded with a client’s engineering team as part of a long-term contractor partnership through SynlogIQ.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior SDET — a software engineer with a strong quality mindset, not a classic QA/tester. You’ll build automation frameworks from the ground up, set QA standards across the whole development process, and shape how the team tests, validates, and ships software. If you care about automation, software craftsmanship, and continuous improvement, this is a role with real influence.

What you’ll do

Build UI, API, and integration automation frameworks from scratch (for example, using the Page Object Model)
Design and run manual and automated testing strategies across environments
Set and raise QA standards and testing processes across teams
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
Mentor other QA engineers on automation best practice
Debug flaky tests, analyse logs, and investigate production issues
Review test-automation code and keep the test infrastructure healthy

What we’re looking for

7–9 years in quality engineering with a strong automation focus
Strong automation in Python (must-have); Java is a plus
Deep experience in API and integration testing (Postman, REST Assured, or similar)
Automation framework design (Page Object Model or equivalent)
CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions or similar)
Databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL) and test-management tools (Xray, TestRail, Zephyr)
AWS familiarity
Strong Git practices
Log analysis and troubleshooting; you fix flaky tests and debug independently

Nice to have

New Relic or similar log/monitoring analysis
Functionize or other AI-powered testing platforms
Cross-browser and accessibility testing
Agile/Scrum experience
